Long ago, before there was an Internet, even before there were people, there was the π. (The circle, of course, also existed, but had also not been discovered yet). |
| And, as it is told in the ancient Pithology, the Great Pi's (πus - the Pi of Thunder, πra - the partner of πus, πseidon - the Pi of the Sea, πphestus - the Pi of technology, πphrodite - the Pi of Beauty, and Aπllo - the Pi of music, art, and archery) decreed: Every .π years, the Pi Games would be convened, where the chamπions would be determined through a series of contests. |
| Unfortunately, because π is irrational, transcendental, and infinite, the squabbling among the Great Pi's in determing exactly when the Pi Games were to occur resulted in their occurring approximately every π years, and then simply irregularly. But they do occur. Now join us in their celebration. |
